Shipping: Can I import dried seafood to Canada?

Canada has very strict regulations on imported goods, especially food products. Dried fish maw and other seafood items are among the most frequently inquired about by customers. Although the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) does not list fish maw as a prohibited item, many people still need to be aware of related rules. On the other hand, shark fins, dried tangerine peel, and bird’s nest are explicitly banned from entry—anyone attempting to bring these into Canada risks confiscation, fines, or legal consequences. To avoid unnecessary trouble at customs, travelers or those relocating should carefully review the latest CBSA guidelines before preparing their shipments and ensure full compliance. If you’re unsure which foods or items are allowed, consulting professional logistics providers or customs agents is a smart move to prevent delays or violations.

Wilcan has over 30 years of international relocation experience, and we do not recommend that customers attempt shipping dried seafood into Canada, as this may cause delays in customs clearance. The items may also be confiscated, fined, taxed, or leave a negative record at the customs.
